Name: Courtney Carmichael, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction
Courtney Carmichael has over fifteen years in education. With prior classroom experience in both social studies and educational technology, she has presented at conferences at the state, national, and international levels. Her focus on professional development has included workshops on metacognition, curriculum development, educational technology, standards based lesson planning, career and technical education, and problem based learning. She is an adjunct professor at Kean University for the course "English Language Learners in American Schools."
Mrs. Carmichael has a bachelors in journalism and advertising, art, and political science from Northeastern University, a masters in social studies education from Rutgers University, and an educational specialist degree in education leadership, management and policy from Seton Hall University. She is currently working on her doctorate in K-12 STEM Education.
While she currently lives in Mahwah with her husband Marc, she is from the Long Beach Island originally and misses driving an ice cream truck during the summers in Beach Haven. She loves reading, going to the movies, and photography.
